The rule

With muggins on, a player who counts too few points can lose them: the opponent says “muggins” and pegs the points that were missed ACC r.1.6. It is the only optional rule in the ACC rulebook ACC r.10.1.a, and players must agree to it before the game ACC r.10.1.b. Once on, it applies to everyone at the table ACC r.10.1.d.

What it covers

  • Points missed in the play, in a hand or in the crib ACC r.10.2.
  • Not a missed his heels, not penalties, and not a missed muggins ACC r.10.3.
  • The caller takes the smaller of what they claim and what was missed ACC r.10.4.a.

Muggins changes how you play only when players count their own hands. Cribbage Street counts every hand for you, line by line, so no points go missing and there is nothing to take.

Learn it by playing a hand.

The app’s first hand takes about 6 minutes, with a coach beside you, and the table counts every point.
